  • Direct Attached Storage: ETERNUS JX60

    Storage Subsystem

    As capacity requirements often exceed the storage capacity that servers can offer, a passive extension of server storage is a good option. The Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS JX storage subsystems, which are directly attached to a server, support mixed disk drive configurations with easy handling and low investment costs. When extending storage capacity, they are the perfect choice for environments with only one server or with two servers for high availability in clustered configurations. ETERNUS JX systems offer basic data protection with built-in resilience and they can be managed using standard Fujitsu ServerView software. 

    The Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS JX60 is a high-density, easy-to-use storage subsystem. 
    A passive subsystem extension is a cost-effective solution as capacity requirements often exceed the internal storage capacity of a server. However, data growth is outpacing the increase in disk capacity and thus more disks are needed requiring more rack space. This is why the Fujitsu Storage subsystem ETERNUS JX60 provides high disk capacity in a minimum space. Up to 60 low-cost 3.5 inch Nearline SAS hard disk drives can be hosted in an enclosure of only four rack height units. A total capacity of 480 Terabytes can be delivered by attaching up to two enclosures directly to a server with a small, space-saving footprint.

As Direct Attached Storage (DAS), it extends the storage capacity of Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers through a fastest 12 Gbit/s SAS connection by up to 288 Terabyte with the maximum of 4 enclosures.

    Easier deployment of VMs needs sophisticated storage arrays

    More and more virtual machines are being deployed to run all types of business services in VMware environments, from simple file share solutions up to business critical applications. But getting virtual machines (VMs) to run today requires considerable efforts from both your VMware administrators and your storage specialists. Close coordination is required and even with the best operational processes, deploying your VMs can take more time than you would like. VMware vSphere Virtual Volumes (VVOL) have been released in 2015 and are designed to help streamline deployment, make ongoing administration of VMs more straightforward, and to allow each VM to be managed individually. Fujitsu’s ETERNUS DX S3 storage arrays supported VVOL from day one of VMware’s initial release.

    ETERNUS AF and ETERNUS DX systems also support a manual failover process which is required in the event of planned power shutdowns, DR tests and non-disruptive upgrades.
